When it rains it pours, except in this case the rain is NEW TV SHOWS. There are suddenly so many I want to watch all at the same time and I don’t really know where to start. I’ve tried the first episode for some of these and not been hooked but do want to keep going, and some of these I just keep hearing people talk about and being like, yeah, okay, that sounds like my vibe.

Dungeon Meshi - so I don’t watch a lot of anime consistently but I keep hearing how cosy this is and how lovely all the food animation is and I kind of want that Ghibli vibe, you know?
For All Mankind - I’m a few episodes into this and I WANT to love it but it isn’t grabbing me. But I won’t give up! I hear there are queer women and you know I’ll do a lot for queer women. Plus, this woman whomst I have been lusting after since her gifsets first graced my eyes:
(x) Hazbin Hotel - pals I’ll be honest I have no clue what this is about but a bunch of friends love it and I hear it’s queer and I like the art vibe and that’s good enough for me
Shogun - this just looks so beautiful???????
Masters of The Air - as a certified Band of Brothers Girlie TM, I am READY for this and honestly if there aren’t queer people in this in the year of our lorde 2024 what are we even doing here
Hospital Playlist - Regan from PeruseProject RAVES about this and as someone who has watched enough grey’s anatomy that i’m probably technically a doctor now, I will check out any and all medical dramas going
One Piece - this has? ships? and someone with orange hair? that’s the extent of my knowledge barrels. but it looks fun and camp and it’s fantasy tv so I want to give it a go
Dead Boy Detectives - i’ll be honest with you, cosy pals, since i started writing this newsletter I have since inhaled this whole show and it’s GREAT. Queer as hell, weird, mysteries AND ghosts and a bunch of cats and a repressed Edwardian gay in love with his best friend. INCREDIBLE. More seasons immediately please and thank you, do not Lockwood & Co me here, Netflix.
Fallout - the sum total of my fallout knowledge comes from Final Pam, which, while excellent, has not necessarily given me a full overview of the fallout world lol. but I love adaptations and Ella Purnell has such a good face and so it calls to me.
What I’ve actually been watching instead of any of these shows is, uh, five seasons of 911 in like two weeks. I’ve been meaning to watch 911 since my friend left me a series of increasingly unhinged voicenotes about it back in 2022 and then the other week, the Most Blorbo Man came out as bi on the show and let me tell you, every single person I know immediately started watching.
PLUS the timing coincided with me being off work with a sinus infection and my wife having a free week before she started her new job, so we hunkered down in our unicorn hoodies and marathoned it. What a TIME. What a BLAST. What a MUSIC BUDGET that show has. If Buck and Eddie don’t get together in canon, I am going to scream into every paper bag I ever see for the rest of my life. It’s all! fine! here!
I just finished Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree and I LOVED it. I enjoyed Legends and Lattes* but not to the extremes I’ve seen other people enjoy it, but I definitely had that experience with Bookshops and Bonedust. It was perfect. A hug in a book. A DnD style adventurer has to take a rest break in a small seaside town and makes friends, rebuilds a bookshop, has a (queer) romance, and heals her leg? Genius. A perfect piece of escapism.
And I’m rereading Legends and Lattes now! I think the time/place I read it the first time didn’t do it any favours (on my phone a stressful train journey) so this time I’m reading the paperback all curled up on my couch and already I’m having a much softer, kinder reading experience.
ALSO I asked my best friend for Bookshops and Bonedust for Christmas and Tora got me the fancy Broken Binding edition??? Look how BEAUTIFUL it is. And such a nice size to hold!!

The Stardew Valley 1.6 update has consumed my life. I started a new farm on the new meadow farm type (obsessed with it) and this time I’m romancing Penny because I’ve had enough therapy now that that’s an option 😅 and honestly all the little quality of life updates are incredible. I’ve got another solid 40 hours minimum sunk into it and I haven’t even reached the end of year 2 yet. Will this be the save I finally reach perfection on??? I’ll report back.
